Modern Apartment | Washington D.C.

Ninja Deterrent™ Heart-design anti-climb spikes installed on a mixed wood and concrete wall, blending security with warm architectural texture.

At a compact apartment building in a quiet neighborhood just off central Washington, DC, we installed the Gothic along a tall wood entry gate, adjacent concrete wing walls, and a steel security screen around the stair tower. From the street it reads as a thin shadow line; up close it eliminates grips, footholds, and hook points. (Exact address withheld for privacy.)

Tall wood entry gate between concrete wing walls, topped with a continuous black GIZAGIZA HEART crown.
Wood gate + concrete wing walls — one continuous deterrent line.
Steel screen integration around the stair tower.
Aligned with structure, minimal added visual noise.
Corner detail: the crown returns around a concrete edge to remove leverage points.
Returned corners remove tool placement and leverage.
Oblique view: the crown appears as a discreet shadow line atop the wall.
From afar: a fine shadow line. Up close: a clear “do not climb.”
Full elevation of the wood gate with keypad, crowned by GIZAGIZA HEART across the entire span.
Full-span coverage with no gaps, steps, or handholds.

Project Snapshot

  • Location: Washington, DC (address withheld)
  • Scope: Wood entry gate, concrete wing walls, and steel security screen

Design Notes

The building’s exposed steel and board-formed concrete set a precise rhythm. The Gothic continues that rhythm as a slim crown that disappears into the coping line until you get close—when its purpose is unmistakable.

Resident Feedback

“Subtle from the sidewalk, but there’s nowhere to grab anymore. It finishes the security envelope without changing the look.”
