Residential Side Gate | Ashbury Heights | San Francisco

Project Overview

In a residential neighborhood of San Francisco overlooking the mountains, Edgewood Ave, additional perimeter protection was introduced at a wooden side gate. Side gates are often less visible from the street, making them potential points of entry. To strengthen this vulnerable area, the Ninja Deterrent™ Gothic Black model was installed along the top edge of the gate.

Installation Details

The installation places the stainless-steel spike rail directly above the wooden structure, forming a discreet but continuous security line.

Closer view of the wooden side gate: Gothic Dual Blade Black runs subtly along the upper edge.

The spikes are mounted in a way that aligns with the natural design of the gate. From a distance, the defensive element remains unobtrusive, while up close it establishes a clear deterrent.

Design Integration

The gate is built with vertical wooden panels that emphasize a natural, warm exterior. On top, the Gothic Dual Blade Black rail integrates with minimal visual impact. Unlike overtly aggressive barriers, the spike line provides protection while keeping the overall appearance understated and modern.

Conclusion

This installation shows how Ninja Deterrent™ can be applied effectively to residential wooden gates without overwhelming the design. The Gothic Dual Blade Black model offers a low-profile but decisive security measure for side entrances, particularly in urban neighborhoods where aesthetics and safety must coexist.

Residential Privacy Fence | Ingleside Terraces | San Francisco

Project Overview

In San Francisco’s Urbano Dr neighborhood, a wooden side fence was upgraded with Gothic Ninja Deterrent™. What makes this project unique is the homeowner’s own customization: both the wall and the spikes were painted in a striking red tone.

The result is a perimeter solution that does more than just secure the property—it also delivers a bold visual statement.

Installation Highlights

Design Perspective

While Ninja Deterrent™ is typically installed in stainless steel or powder-coated finishes, this project shows how color customization can dramatically change the perception of security hardware.

  • Red spikes emphasize strength and warning.
  • The uniform tone between fence and deterrent creates a cohesive but intimidating look.
  • Beyond physical defense, the bold coloring heightens psychological impact, discouraging intrusion attempts.

Conclusion

This Urbano Dr installation demonstrates the flexibility of Ninja Deterrent™ in adapting to personal aesthetic choices. By painting the spikes red, the homeowner transformed them from a discreet protective measure into a striking architectural and security statement.

The installation aligns with the condo’s modern façade of glass, metal, and geometric forms—achieving both architectural harmony and uncompromising protection.

The combination of stainless-steel durability and refined ornamental design makes it especially suited for luxury residential environments, where security must be balanced with aesthetics.

Medical Cannabis Shop | Portland

Project Overview

This project was carried out at a medical cannabis dispensary located just outside downtown Portland, North East Sandy Blvd. Cannabis shops often face elevated security risks due to their high-value inventory and cash-heavy operations. The store management sought a solution to protect the building’s perimeter—especially the roofline and vertical drainpipe areas that could serve as climbing points for intruders.

To address these concerns, Ninja Deterrent™ stainless-steel anti-climb spikes were installed along the roof parapet, combined with barbed wire around the upper section of the drainpipe. This created a strong, layered defense against unauthorized entry.

Installation Details

The installation was designed to blend with the building’s urban character. The spikes were mounted discreetly along the parapet edge, visible enough to deter intrusion but harmonized with the architecture and signage.

Nighttime Security Presence

Night view of the dispensary: illuminated signage combined with a visible defensive roofline.

At night, the illuminated shop front draws attention to the defensive perimeter, sending a clear message of deterrence to potential intruders.

Outcome & Feedback

The management expressed high satisfaction with the results:

“Cannabis shops are always a target, and our location was no exception. With Ninja Deterrent™ on the roofline and barbed wire on the drainpipe, we feel much more secure. Customers notice the effort we’ve taken to protect the store, which also builds trust.”

Conclusion

This Portland installation demonstrates how Ninja Deterrent™ can be seamlessly combined with traditional security measures like barbed wire to protect high-risk businesses. For cannabis dispensaries, jewelry stores, and other retail spaces, this layered approach provides both physical resilience and psychological deterrence.

Apartment Entrance | San Francisco

A wrought-iron gate paired with our Gothic Dual Ninja Deterrent™ anti-climb spikes delivers discreet but decisive security while preserving the elegance of a cream-tinted façade.

Context & Design Intent

Set within a low-traffic residential street, this apartment building carries classical mouldings, an arched portal, and weathered siding. Waterfront Residence | Cliffside Roof | Seattle

Project Overview

This project took place at a private waterfront residence located outside downtown Seattle. The homeowners, a Japanese-American gentleman and his wife originally from Okinawa, also own a second home in Hawaii and value coastal living.

While the location offers a spectacular view, the property’s cliffside position also presented a security challenge. One section of the roof facing the cliff could serve as a foothold for potential intruders. To address this concern, the homeowners chose to install Ninja Deterrent™ stainless-steel anti-climb spikes, ensuring both safety and peace of mind.

Installation Points

Stainless-steel Ninja Deterrent™ spikes discreetly integrated along the parapet roofline facing the cliffside.

The installation focused on the parapet roof section directly accessible from the cliff. A continuous spike line was installed to create a clear visual and physical deterrent. The subtle design allows the spikes to blend with the architecture while providing uncompromising protection.

Material & Design

seattle waterfront close up

The spikes are manufactured from SUS304 stainless steel, renowned for its strength and corrosion resistance. This ensures long-term durability against Seattle’s frequent rain and humid coastal climate. From a distance, the spikes appear as a clean architectural line, maintaining the home’s refined aesthetic while enhancing perimeter security.

Security Integration

Combined with chain-link fencing and solar sensor lighting, Ninja Deterrent™ forms a complete security layer.

In addition to Ninja Deterrent™, the security system includes chain-link fencing and solar-powered motion-sensor lighting. Together, these elements form a multi-layered defense, effectively deterring unauthorized access both day and night.

Homeowners’ Feedback

After installation, the couple expressed their satisfaction with the results:

“The roof facing the cliff was always a worry, but now with Ninja Deterrent™, we finally feel secure. It’s reassuring to know the house is better protected, and we also appreciate how the design blends in naturally without disrupting the look of our home.”

Conclusion

This Seattle waterfront residence highlights how Ninja Deterrent™ delivers discreet yet decisive protection in challenging environments such as cliffside homes. By addressing hidden vulnerabilities like roof access points, homeowners can enjoy peace of mind without compromising architectural harmony.

For those living in waterfront or hillside properties, Ninja Deterrent™ offers a proven solution that unites security and design.

Luxury Condominium | San Francisco

In a narrow service alley, a custom egress gate equipped with Ninja Deterrent™ Gothic Dual reinforces perimeter security while preserving the refined character of a high-end residence.

The robust stainless frame combined with the Ninja Deterrent™ makes the passage both secure and elegant.

Context & Design Brief

The project site is a downtown block with a service corridor hidden between tall buildings. Because this low-visibility area posed a security weakness, the client required stronger climb-over prevention and reliable day-and-night deterrence. Our solution was to integrate Ninja Deterrent™ anti-climb spikes with a rigid stainless frame and mesh infill, creating a discreet but highly effective defensive line.

Material & Finish

The frame and gate members are fabricated from stainless steel with a brushed finish for durability and architectural harmony. The Ninja Deterrent™ spike rail aligns perfectly with the gate head, appearing as a crisp design line while ensuring uncompromising protection.
