Wood Privacy Fence | Washington D.C.

A weathered wood privacy fence—wrapped in greenery—upgraded with Ninja Deterrent™ anti-climb spikes for a quiet, high-end perimeter solution that preserves the garden atmosphere while removing the “start point” for climbing.

Concept: Natural Greenery × Quiet Security

In a residential neighborhood outside central Washington, the perimeter is defined by mature planting and a timber fence that blends into the landscape. The client wanted stronger climb resistance without introducing bulky hardware or a harsh, industrial look.

The answer was a continuous, low-profile anti-climb line installed along the fence top—subtle from the street, decisive up close.

Security Meets Design

From a distance, the fence keeps its calm, residential presence. From arm’s length, the message is clear: no comfortable grip, no hook point, no safe leverage.

The slim silhouette integrates naturally with wood grain, vines, and garden shadows—delivering deterrence without changing the character of the boundary.

Installation Highlights

  • Continuous run along the top edge to eliminate “start points” for climbing
  • Low-profile detailing that stays visually quiet against the wood cap
  • Landscape-friendly integration that works even with vines and dense planting
  • Perimeter consistency: the deterrent reads as one clean line, not patched segments

Chain Link Gate | Midtown | Houston

At Tuam St, Houston, we installed a steel entry gate with a Modern serrated crown (stainless steel). The linear teeth echo the corrugated metal facade, preserving the industrial look while eliminating grips, footholds, and hook points.

  • Scope: Steel entry gate — continuous run with returned ends
  • Product: Modern serrated crown | Stainless
  • Goal: Raise climb resistance while keeping the industrial facade intact

Design Fit

The corrugated metal walls set a crisp rhythm. The Modern teeth continue that rhythm as a fine shadow line from a distance—and as a clear physical barrier up close.

Client Voice

“It blends in with the building and removed the handholds at the top. Subtle from the street, obvious at the gate.”

Entrance Gate | Hancock Park | Los Angeles

A continuous Modern saw-tooth edge crowns the wood wall—subtle from afar, decisive up close.

Context & Location

On a busy corner near Hollywood, this modern home presented multiple climbable surfaces facing a high-traffic intersection. The design brief: maintain the crisp architectural language while adding a discreet yet effective anti-climb layer.

A second nearby residence, set back from the main street around Highland Ave, requested a coordinated solution for a side gate in a quieter, classic-meets-modern setting.

Design & Installation

For the corner lot, we installed a Ninja Deterrent™ Modern saw-tooth profile along the top of the exterior wood wall. The razor-clean rhythm blends with the horizontal cladding and drought-tolerant agave planting, delivering a minimalist silhouette that denies hand purchase without visual clutter.

For the Highland Ave side gate, we specified Ninja Deterrent™ Modern along the gate’s upper rail. The heart-cut geometry pairs naturally with the home’s black steel, wood fence elements, and wrought-iron window accents—modern yet classically detailed.

  • Finish: Matte black—low glare, UV-stable, weather-resistant powder coat.
  • Approach: CPTED layering—physical deterrent + visibility; unobtrusive from the street.

Luxurious Modern Apartment | Santa Monica

Project Overview

Near the Santa Monica Beach area, a luxury condominium required enhanced perimeter protection without compromising its modern glass façade. Conventional anti-climb spikes and barbed wire, often used in neighboring properties, were considered visually intrusive and incompatible with the building’s refined aesthetic.

To achieve both security and design harmony, a custom Ninja Deterrent™ model was provided—engineered without mounting holes and installed using an adhesive system directly onto the glass panels.

Installation Highlights

Custom Ninja Deterrent™ spike rail seamlessly bonded onto the glass fence. The linear silhouette complements the modern architecture and creates a crisp design line.

Client Feedback

According to the property owner the installation had an immediate impact:

  • No intrusion attempts have occurred since the spikes were installed.
  • The product was praised as a perfect fusion of aesthetics and protection.
  • Compared to the barbed wire and unsightly anti-climb spikes seen on nearby condominiums, Ninja Deterrent™ stands out as an elegant alternative.

Design Perspective

  • Adhesive installation allows for spike integration on glass without drilling, preserving structural and visual integrity.
  • Sharp linear design enhances the modernist architectural style.
  • Demonstrates how security can be elevated into an architectural feature, not a compromise.

Conclusion

This Santa Monica project highlights how Ninja Deterrent™ adapts to custom architectural requirements, even for glass-based exteriors. By eliminating the trade-off between beauty and safety, the solution provided the client with both peace of mind and design excellence.
