Continuous anti-climb spike installation on a perimeter wall near W Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, Los Angeles, maintaining a clean architectural look while securing the property.

Security spike installation on a luxurious modern apartment building in Santa Monica, combining elegant design with effective perimeter protection.
A luxury condominium near Santa Monica Beach came to us after a break-in that no one had thought possible: an intruder had climbed over the property's glass perimeter fence and entered the home. The open, transparent glass fencing that defined the building's modern architecture had quietly become its single greatest weakness. The owner needed real protection — but not at the cost of the clean, light-filled aesthetic that made the home what it was.
Set just steps from the beach, the residence pairs frosted glass fence panels with warm wood-slat gates and an active camera system. On paper it looked secure; in practice, the smooth, foothold-free glass was exactly what the intruder used to climb over. Off-the-shelf anti-climb spikes or barbed wire would have solved the problem instantly — and ruined the architecture just as fast. Worse, conventional spikes are bolted down, which would have meant drilling straight through the glass panels.
We engineered a custom Ninja Deterrent™ spike rail made specifically for glass fences, with no mounting holes. Each rail is bonded directly onto the top edge of the glass through a precise adhesive installation, so the panels stay completely intact. Finished in matte black to read as a crisp architectural line rather than security hardware, it makes the top of the glass impossible to grip — while the fence keeps its transparency and clean horizon.
Security is only as strong as its weakest gap, so the protection didn't stop at the glass. The same Ninja Deterrent™ approach was carried across the property's wood-slat gates, with spikes running continuously along every top edge. Matched to the warm tone of the timber, the line stays low-key from the street yet leaves no easy handhold anywhere along the boundary.
Paired with the home's existing surveillance cameras, the spikes form a layered deterrent: a would-be climber is both physically blocked and clearly watched. Up close the exterior still reads as calm and well-kept — but to anyone sizing it up from the sidewalk, it now reads as an unmistakably difficult target.
Up close, the detail does the work. A fine, tight tooth pitch removes any space to grab, while the powder-coated matte finish stands up to coastal sun and salt air. Mounted flush along the rail, the spikes hold a sharp, deliberate silhouette that feels designed-in rather than added-on.
This Santa Monica project shows that Ninja Deterrent™ can be tailored to the most demanding architectural surfaces — even frameless glass — without a single compromise to the design. By turning the home's most exposed edge into its strongest one, it removes the old trade-off between beauty and safety. Since the installation, the owner reports that there have been no further break-ins — the home finally feels as secure as it looks.
